Overview
Bendalong Beach is a sandy beach break that peels both left and right, sitting alongside one of the best surfer campgrounds around. The peaks are highly consistent and can throw the occasional barrel, so there's usually something on offer whether you're just starting out or have a few seasons under your belt.
When It Works
The break draws swell from northeast through east-southeast to south (NE-ESE-S), with southeast (SE) the best match. It comes to life across a wide window, working from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, and the peaks stay reliable even when other spots go flat. The best barrels tend to show on northeast to southeast swells.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest (NW) offshore wind to clean things up. The banks work through all tides, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
Bendalong suits everyone, and it's an especially friendly spot for beginners to find their feet. Expect a busy lineup when it's on. Keep an eye on the Boatramp in bigger swells. There are also great shore breaks here, plus a run of other spots nearby from Washerwomans down to Manyana if you want to spread out.
Access
You'll find the break at the entrance to the campground, so camping puts you right on the doorstep. There's a car park with free parking, along with roadside parking.
