Overview
Beng Bengs is a friendly left reef that works as a reliable backup, coming into its own when Ebay and other nearby spots aren't quite on. Expect fast walls that change with the conditions, though it's not really a barrelling wave.
When It Works
It breaks left over live coral and draws swell from south through west, with southwest the best match. The spot is usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, handling anything from tiny to fairly chunky.
Wind and Tide
Look for east offshore wind. It works across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
Beng Bengs suits intermediate surfers. Watch the end of the wave: it finishes abruptly on a protruding chunk of reef that offers nothing but pain, so if you get caught, wash over the reef and paddle back around to the right.
