Overview
Bermejo is an uncrowded lefthand pointbreak that peels in two distinct sections. The first runs fast and hollow in places over a stony boulder bottom, while the second turns sandy into a fun, easy wall. The setting is a scruffy fishing camp, which brings some residential pollution to the water.
When It Works
Bermejo draws swell from south through southwest (S-SW), with southwest the best match. It's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft and breaks consistently, so you can count on it turning on fairly often. The fast, hollow first section really comes alive on a south swell.
Wind and Tide
The trade winds blow offshore here from the southeast, holding the wall clean. It works across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call, though the hollow first section is sharpest at low tide.
Local Tips
Bermejo suits intermediate surfers, and the sandy second section makes an easy, forgiving wall that's ideal for improvers. Expect a fairly quiet lineup when it's working.
