Overview
Bistrot is a powerful right-hander that breaks over boulders in the centre of Sanremo, tucked in beside the bar-restaurant Bistrot da Giannino that lends it its name. It's a proper reef set-up that reels off a fast, punchy wall and can even throw the occasional barrel when it's firing. The water quality is good.
When It Works
Bistrot draws its swell from the southwest through northwest, and it comes to life best on a southwest swell. It's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, so it needs a touch of size to break properly but still holds together toward the bigger end of that window.
Wind and Tide
Look for a northeast offshore wind to clean it up. The reef can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is a wave that rewards intermediate surfers who can handle a quick, powerful right. Sitting right in the middle of town, the lineup can get crowded when it's on.
