Overview
Eze is a sheltered reef break on the French Riviera, throwing up short lefts and rights over an uneven reef. It only comes to life when a strong easterly wind and swell push in, so it needs the right setup to fire. The spot stays popular despite a sharp reef, and if things go quiet here, Vintimille sits just across the border as a backup, since Menton's old spot to the east vanished once the breakwaters went in.
When It Works
The reef draws swell from east to south (E-S) and is usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft. It can be somewhat inconsistent, so plan on scoring it when the easterly swell and wind line up rather than counting on it day to day.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest (NW) offshore wind to smooth it out. The reef can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers, and the sharp reef underfoot means it pays to know the layout before paddling out. Expect a busy lineup when it turns on.
