Overview
Blow Holes is a long sandy beach break sitting about 60 km / 37 mi north of Carnarvon, the main supply stop for the region. Waves peel both left and right over a mix of rock ledge and sand, and there's some extra shelf action off the island at the northern end when the wind swings northeast. It sits around the entrance to Shark Bay, and this is a sharky stretch of coast.
When It Works
The beach draws swell from south through west, with west (W) swell the best match. It's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, and it picks up swell moderately often, so there are worthwhile windows without it firing every day.
Wind and Tide
Look for east (E) offshore wind to clean things up. It can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The gentle beach waves make this an approachable spot for beginners. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's working.
Access
There's camping on hand if you want to stay close to the break.
