Overview
Blueys Beach is a sand-bottom beachbreak that peels both left and right. It can be excellent and awful on the same day, and it never quite has the lined-up power of its neighbouring breaks. A rock wedge at the southern end gives the bodyboarders a spot of their own.
When It Works
Blueys comes alive as a solid beachie when there's east swell in the water. It takes swell from northeast through southeast (NE-SE), and northeast (NE) is the direction it likes best. Small, peaky morning swells are where it really produces. It's a consistent break and works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 3 m / 10 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for west (W) offshore wind, ideally early before the sea breeze gets to it and messes up the surface. The bank works through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is an approachable, beginner-friendly beachbreak. Because it isn't as lined-up or powerful as the breaks nearby, it tends to draw smaller crowds, though you can still expect a moderately busy lineup when it's on.
