Overview
Bore is a sandy beachbreak of shifty peaks that break both left and right, serving up short, hollow rides in the chest- to head-high range. It picks up just about any swell going, which makes it the go-to when everything else is too small for the nearby boulder breaks.
When It Works
The beach draws swell from southwest through north (SW-N), with northwest (NW) the best direction. It's usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft. The banks are at their best in early autumn after a calm summer, though the peaks close out easily when they aren't lined up.
Wind and Tide
Look for east (E) offshore wind. Bore breaks across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
It's a friendly spot for beginners. Despite the many peaks on offer, the lineup can still get crowded when it's working.
Access
There's a car park in a designated area right as you reach the beach, just after Bore Strand Camping. You'll find restrooms and a surf school, and the campsite offers small cabins if you need somewhere to stay.
