Boulters Bay surf guide

Boulters Bay, also known as Boulders Bay, is a small cove located at the west end of Fitzroy, offering a laid-back spot for surfers. This beach is a popular choice for both locals and visitors looking for a manageable surf session. The area features easy parking right by the bay, which is also referred to as East End Beach. You’ll find plenty of large driftwood logs scattered around, creating a unique coastal environment.

The surf here can be suitable for all abilities, especially beginners. Boulters Bay picks up swells mainly from the SouthWest, but it can also handle swells from the North. It works best with swell sizes around 3ft (about 1 meter), and waves break over both boulders and sand. You can catch lefts and rights, with decent walls to ride, but it's not really a pointbreak due to the boulders that have been deposited out in the water. For the best conditions, aim for mid to high tide with a southeast wind.

When you visit Boulters Bay, you may notice the local malibu riders enjoying the waves, which adds to the friendly vibe. It’s a great spot to relax and catch some waves without feeling overwhelmed, making it a solid choice for a casual surf day.
