The surf at Buma is shaped primarily by swell coming from the West and Northwest. It can handle swell sizes starting from about 2 feet (0.6 meters), making it more suitable for intermediate surfers. The waves break over live coral, and you'll find both left and right beach breaks here. The best conditions usually come when the wind is blowing from the North, especially during mid to high tide, which tends to work better for catching waves.

If you're in the mood for a bit of an adventure, Buma is also close to Jimmy's, which is known for a more challenging mutant peak that's popular with bodyboarders looking for a thrill.
