Cabo Verde is a sand-bottomed beachbreak that peels both left and right. It shares its name with another, average beachbreak over on the Piura/Lambayeque border, so it's worth keeping the two apart.
When It Works
Cabo Verde draws swell from south through west-southwest to northwest (S-WSW-NW), with southwest (SW) the best direction. Lobos de Tierra island can shadow the west swell window, so the break tends to favour southwest swell, holding up to head high. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft and is moderately consistent.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast (NE) offshore wind. The break can work across low, mid, and high tide, though a rising tide is generally the better call.
Local Tips
Expect a quiet lineup here — you're highly unlikely to see another surfer out.
