Overview
Camel Rock is a beachbreak set beside the twin-humped rock it takes its name from, in a lush, verdant setting. It breaks over sand and offers both lefts and rights. On the best days, rights will peel pointbreak-style for a hundred yards into a nice channel, but more often it is a mushy, sectiony right with hollower lefts on the inside near the rock.
When It Works
The break draws swell from south through north (S-N), with a west (W) swell the best match. It is usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 3 m / 10 ft, so there is a wide working window before conditions turn too small or too big. This is a consistent spot that picks up plenty of swell.
Wind and Tide
Look for a northeast (NE) offshore wind to clean things up. It comes in best around low tide, and a rising tide is generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is an intermediate-friendly wave, and it draws a crowd, so expect a busy lineup when it works. A handy river-like channel runs alongside the rock, giving you an easier paddle out.
