Campus Point is a long right-hand point break sitting right next to UCSB, peeling over a rock ledge with several distinct sections. On its best days it's an excellent wave, with fast, hollow sections and long rides. When the swell doesn't line up, it turns mushy, slow, and weak.
When It Works
Campus Point needs a solid west swell to reach its potential. It draws swell from southwest through northwest, with west (W) the best match, and is usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft. It's somewhat inconsistent, coming alive mainly through autumn and winter, roughly October to February. The inner peak, known as Poles, is popular with longboarders.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast (NE) offshore wind. The point works on low to mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is a rewarding wave for intermediate surfers, and it suits a wide range of equipment, from shortboards and fish to funboards, longboards, and bodyboards. Expect a busy lineup packed with students when it's on, and the atmosphere in the water can feel a little reserved.

Parking is in a paid, coin-metered lot right next to the point, so bring change.
