Canet Plage surf guide

Canet Plage is located near Perpignan in the Pyrénées Orientales region. It’s a popular beach for surfers, offering some decent conditions when the conditions align. The beach can get crowded, especially when the E-SE swell is in, attracting both longboarders and shortboarders looking to catch a wave. The area has a developed beachfront, which adds to its urban feel but also means it can get busy during peak times.

The spot works best with east and southeast swells, typically handling sizes around 1ft (approximately 0.3m). The waves can break left and have short right options too, especially near the southern harbour jetty. While it's not always reliable, when the swell is right, it provides fun waves for intermediate surfers. Preferable wind direction is from the west, and it’s worth noting that it can work at low, mid, and high tides, giving you some flexibility to plan your session.

Besides surfing, the area attracts wind and kitesurfers, especially around the Pont des Basses. If you’re looking for less crowded spots nearby, you might consider checking out places like Saint-Cyprien and Le Racou down the coast, although they can also fill up quickly. Overall, if you're in the area and the conditions are good, Canet Plage can offer a worthwhile surf experience.
