Overview
Cap Requin is a left-hand reef that swings around a sweep of live coral, coming to life in moderate swells. The name is a clue to its sharkiness, and the La Cimetiere beachbreak just to the north has been the scene of two recent attacks.
When It Works
The reef draws swell from southwest through southeast (SW-SE), with southwest the best match. It works from 1.2 m / 4 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft and is moderately consistent, so the better windows tend to come when the swell lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for southeast offshore wind to groom the walls. The reef needs the depth of mid to high tide, with a rising tide the better call.
Local Tips
Cap Requin suits intermediate surfers, and the lineup tends to stay fairly quiet.
Access
The break is visible from the highway.
