Overview
Capbreton Pointe is a sand-bottom beach break on the dead-straight stretch of coast running from Capbreton to the Adour. Despite the name it isn't a true point, just another section of that long beach, though a favourable sandbank can give the wave real shape. You reach it down a sandy road through the forest that ends at an ad hoc parking spot beside a water treatment plant, and it takes its name from the campsite you pass on the way in.
When It Works
The bank draws swell from west to north, with a northwest swell the best match, and the peaks here throw both lefts and rights. It's a consistent spot that works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3 m / 10 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for an east offshore wind to clean it up. It can work through the whole tide across low, mid, and high, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one is aimed at intermediate surfers. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's on, and be aware the atmosphere in the water isn't always the friendliest.
Access
There's a car park with free parking plus roadside parking, and the campsite on the approach makes a handy base. The surrounding area is well policed because of regular vehicle break-ins, so take care with what you leave behind.
