Overview
Capo Mannu is a long right-hand pointbreak that peels down the southwest side of the Capo Mannu peninsula in Sardinia. It's a genuine swell and surfer magnet, famous among Mediterranean surfers and one of the few spots in the area sheltered from the northwest gales. The take-off comes easy and the inside can turn hollow, with rides of up to 200 metres possible when it lines up.
When It Works
The wave breaks over an uneven reef and draws swell from west through north, with northwest (NW) the best direction. It's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft, giving a wide working window across small and large swells. Consistency is a real strength here, so it catches plenty of swell through the season. Both lefts and rights break, though the long right is the main event.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast (NE) offshore wind to groom it. The reef can work through most of the tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
Capo Mannu suits intermediate surfers best. Expect a busy lineup when it's on, and know that it's seriously localized. Watch for rips and sharp rocks on the way in and out, so time your entry and exit carefully.
Access
Head north from Oristano on route 292 and turn left after Riola Sardo toward Mandriola. There's free roadside parking near the break.
