Casa Blanca is a sand-bottomed beach break near Same, the elite resort of Ecuador's Esmeraldas province. It picks up left and right peaks over straight sand, though the waves are often just close-outs.
When It Works
Casa Blanca will grab almost any swell, but it comes together best on a southwest (SW) swell, and it takes swell anywhere from southwest through northwest. The break is usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft. It can be somewhat inconsistent, so it pays to catch it when the swell and sand line up.
Wind and Tide
Look for southeast (SE) offshore wind to clean up the faces. The bank works across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The straightforward beach peaks suit beginners, and the lineup usually stays fairly quiet.
Access
Getting to the sand can be a hassle because of private beach access. There is free roadside parking nearby.
