Overview
Cliffs sits below the Diamond Head Rd lookouts, a scattering of five or six reefs and channels that throw long, rippable walls both left and right over dead coral. It's often the biggest spot on the South shore, and with so many peaks spread along the reef it soaks up plenty of surfers and kites without funnelling everyone onto a single takeoff.
When It Works
The reef draws swell from east through south to southwest, with south swell the best match. It picks up both S and E energy, so it turns messy in the trades but can be classic on north-wind or glassy days. It's a consistent spot, working from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft. Expect some rips, and note that the handy paddle-out channel from the beach tends to disappear once the surf gets bigger.
Wind and Tide
Look for north offshore wind to clean it up. It breaks through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
Those long, rippable walls suit intermediate surfers looking to link turns. Expect a busy lineup when it's on, though the mushier breaks off the side of the main peak tend to draw fewer people than the main wall.

There's a car park with free parking plus roadside parking, and showers to rinse off after your session.
