Clovelly is a very rare left-hand pointbreak that peels over boulders and sand. It needs a monster swell to get going, so it sits flat far more often than it breaks.
When It Works
The point draws swell from southwest to northwest (SW-NW), with west (W) the best match. It takes plenty of size to wake up and works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 3 m / 10 ft. Because it only breaks on the biggest swells, catching it firing takes patience and the right forecast.
Wind and Tide
Look for a south (S) offshore wind to clean it up. It favours low tide, though a rising tide is generally the better call. There's enough shelter over the boulders that it can also hold up in a big southwest wind at low to mid tide.

The wave suits intermediate surfers.
Access
Parking is limited down by the harbour, so it's often easier to leave the car above the village and walk down the steep, winding streets. There's a car park with free parking, along with paid and roadside options.
