Conchitas is a right-hand reef break at Playa Conchitas in Ancón, breaking over flat boulders and sand. It is the town's north swell option and one of the more popular places to surf here, though the water quality is poor.
When It Works
The reef picks up swell from west to north, and northwest is the direction that lines it up best. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, so there is a decent window of usable size to play with. Consistency is moderate rather than reliable, so it pays to check when a northwest swell is running.
Wind and Tide
Look for east wind to groom the face. Conchitas can work through the whole tide, from low to high, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The wave suits intermediate surfers. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it is working, and a bigger crowd on a hot summer day.
Access
The spot sits right in town with facilities nearby. Don't leave any valuables on the beach.
