Overview
Costellos is a short left-hander that breaks over boulders. The take-off is steep, and you'll occasionally see a dry rock pop up in the face. It looks like it should be a goer, but it never quite delivers.
When It Works
The reef draws swell from northeast to southeast (NE-SE) and is usable from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft. If you want a more reliable option nearby, Plaice Cove just to the south can turn on some very decent beachbreaks now and then.
Wind and Tide
Look for west (W) offshore wind. This one only really comes to life at high tide, with a rising tide the better call.
Local Tips
Keep an eye on water quality here. Estuary runoff from the salt marshes brings some pollution, and minor ear infections are possible after a surf.
Access
You'll find restrooms, showers, and a lifeguard on hand. Parking is metered at the North Hampton State Beach car park.
