Cueva surf guide

Cueva is a west-facing beachbreak that offers a nice setup for surfers. It gets a good mix of swells, especially from the northwest, making it a reliable spot for those looking to catch some waves. The beach is generally unspoilt and quite serene, even during the summer months. Parking is easy, and it doesn’t usually get too crowded, so you can enjoy a more laid-back surfing experience.

The surf here is pretty consistent, as the spot is well-sheltered from the northeast sea breezes common in the summer. You can expect decent waves that break over sand, mainly offering lefts at one end and rights at the eastern rivermouth. It handles swell sizes up to about 3 feet (roughly 1 meter) comfortably. The best times to surf are during low to mid tide when the conditions are optimal. If you’re an expert surfer, this place is ideal, especially with the preferred wind coming from the southeast.

It's worth noting that Cueva is best for those looking for a bit of a challenge. The combination of wave types and directions makes it crucial to know your skills well before heading out. The different breaks and setup can also require more experience to navigate successfully, so be prepared if you want to paddle out!
