Don-Don is a reef break that peels in the middle of the bay, one of the Grupuk spots. It reels off in front of a row of semi-submerged wooden fishing frames, over live coral. The wave offers a non-abrupt glide into predictable, easy walls, and it runs both ways, with the lefts a touch faster than the rights. It is a friendly setup for beginners finding their feet.
When It Works
The bay draws swell from southwest through southeast (SW-SE), with south swell the best match. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, so there is a decent window between too small and too big. Expect it to turn on a moderate number of days rather than every session.
Wind and Tide
Look for a north offshore wind to clean things up. The spot needs the tide to have pushed in for a few hours before it starts breaking in front of those fishing frames, so it is a mid to high tide wave. A rising tide is generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is welcoming water for beginners, thanks to the mellow glide and forgiving walls. Like all the Grupuk spots, it can get seriously crowded, with every skill level sharing the lineup at once. Stay aware of who is around you and give the beginners plenty of room.
