Dumbea Left surf guide
Surf: Almost 2km across the channel, Dumbea Lefts are regularly firing, attracting regular crowds to its multi-faceted line-up. Like most New Caledonian waves, up to headhigh is fun, slashable, walls and ramps with little pockets appearing along the 200m playground. Once the swell kicks on past 6-8ft, things start getting serious and throaty tubes scour the coral that gets drained on the inside. Short close-out sections allow multiple take-off zones and ENE is bang offshore.
Environment: If it’s too small or crowded, head up the reef to False Pass for some seriously horseshoe shaped tubes.
