Overview
Eagle's Nest is a right-hand point that peels over uneven reef, sitting about 8 km (5 mi) from Inverloch. It's built around long, slow rights that lean more flat wall than pitching lip, which makes it a friendly place for improvers to string together some real length of ride. On the right day it can stand in for a decent Torquay-style right pointbreak.
When It Works
The point earns its keep when a solid south swell is running, and it holds together nicely when conditions elsewhere turn stormy. It draws swell from south to southwest (S-SW), with south (S) the best match, and is usable from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft. Consistency is moderate, so expect worthwhile windows rather than waves on tap.
Wind and Tide
Look for a northwest (NW) offshore wind to groom the walls, which lines up neatly with the big south swells this point wants. It needs a push of water to come alive: a rising tide is the call, working through mid and high.
Local Tips
The forgiving walls make this a comfortable pick for intermediate surfers looking to work on their rail time. There are some rips and rocks about, but nothing too demanding for the level. Expect a busy lineup when it's on.
