Overview
El Quisco is a rocky beach that breaks over uneven reef and sand, and it packs a few different options into one stretch. La Derecha sits in the middle of the beach, while a shorey down at the south end suits the bodyboarders. At the north end there's a rare right that only shows up on a northwest swell. There's also a left that pitches hard off a rock and can come good once the sand fills in around the rocks.
When It Works
The reef picks up swell from south through west-southwest to northwest (S-WSW-NW), and southwest (SW) is the direction that lines it up best. It's a consistent spot that holds both lefts and rights, and it works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for southeast (SE) offshore wind to clean it up. It can work across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
El Quisco suits intermediate surfers, and you can expect a moderately busy lineup when it's on. Be aware there's some local attitude in the water.
Access
Parking is paid, with a car park on hand, and you'll pay to park in summer.
