Emerald Beach Surf Forecast Guide

Overview

Emerald Beach is a sand-bottomed beachbreak that peels both left and right, though the lefts are the real draw. When the creek has fed the sandbanks just right, they turn on with long, hollow rides worth diverting for, and any east swell tends to light them up. If the main peak isn't quite firing, there are more banks to scope out near Sandy Beach on both sides of the headland.

When It Works

The beach picks up swell from the northeast through southeast, working best on a straight northeast (NE) swell. It's usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 3 m / 10 ft, and as a consistent break it holds rideable waves more often than not.

Wind and Tide

Look for a northwest (NW) offshore wind to groom it. The bank works across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.

Local Tips

The waves suit intermediate surfers, and you can expect a moderately busy lineup when it's on.

Access
