FAE surf guide

FAE is a surf spot known for its consistent waves and is located along Mar Bravo beach, stretching down towards Punta Carneros. It's a reliable location that attracts both locals and visitors, especially when the conditions are right. The area has a mix of beach breaks and point breaks, making it a versatile spot for surfers looking for different types of rides.

The waves at FAE work best with small to moderate SW swells, ideally around the 2ft (0.6m) mark. The optimal swell direction is SouthWest, but you can also find fun waves with South and Northwest swells. Most of the action happens on the left side of the point, where surfers can enjoy a good wall to ride. The waves break over an uneven reef, which requires some skill to navigate. The best wind direction is from the Northeast, and you can catch decent waves at low, mid, or high tide. Overall, this spot is best suited for expert surfers due to its conditions.

This beach is popular not just for surfing but also attracts bodyboarders, particularly along the sandbars. It's worth noting that FAE’s reliability makes it a common choice for competitions. When you decide to park, head to Chocolatera after passing through the naval base. And while you're out there, keep an eye out for sea lions—they're a part of the local vibe!
