Faro surf guide

Faro is a surf spot located along the coast from Mazara del Vallo to Selinunte. This area is generally exposed to all W winds and swells, making it a decent choice for surfers looking for varied conditions. The main break under the lighthouse features a right-hand point break on a sharp rocky bottom. It’s essential to wait for clean conditions to get the best waves here.

The optimal swell direction for this spot is Northwest, with the site also handling swells from the Southwest and North. It works well with swell sizes around 2ft (0.6 meters). The waves break over an uneven reef and are mainly right-hand point waves. For the best experience, aim to surf during low, mid, or high tides with southeast winds, as these factors can make a significant difference in wave quality.

When heading to Faro, you’ll find the conditions are rarely crowded, which can be a plus if you prefer a more peaceful surf session. Do be aware of possible currents in the water, as they can impact your surfing experience. To access the spot, from Mazara, follow the signs to Campobello di Mazara and take the dirt trail to Kartibubbo.
