Farr Bay is a small-bay beachbreak that breaks over sand, tucked away near Bettyhill. It is a forgiving spot best suited to beginners on smaller days, with lefts and rights coming off the beach. The reefs on either side of the bay can produce their own waves when the setup lines up.
When It Works
The bay draws swell from west through north to northeast, with northwest (NW) swell the best match. It is a beginner-friendly wave in smaller conditions and works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.2 m / 4 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for a southeast (SE) offshore wind to clean things up. The beach can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is a good place to learn, with mellow beachbreak waves that suit beginners finding their feet.
Access
Park by the junction in Bettyhill and walk across to the beach. There is a car park with free parking, and camping is available nearby.
