Fishermans Island is a rare point-style right-hander tucked at the northern end of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, where a small crescent of sand shapes long, fast, barreling walls. When it lines up, it is a genuinely unusual setup for the area.
When It Works
The break needs swell arriving from east to south, wrapping in and breaking over sand. It is usable from 1.2 m / 4 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft. This is an extremely fickle spot, so plan on waiting for the rare window when the swell and everything else finally line up.
Wind and Tide
Look for north offshore wind to groom the walls into their long, fast, barreling shape. It breaks on all tides, but is more makeable with more water, so a rising tide is generally the better call.
Access
There is no way in without a boat, and no stopping or parking anywhere nearby. The beach itself is off-limits to trespassing, so in practice only the most dedicated locals ever paddle out here.
