Overview
Forresters is one of the Central Coast's premier big-wave spots, a rare outside bombie that sits half-submerged over an uneven reef. When it switches on it throws hollow lefts and rights, and it is not a place for the faint-hearted. Tucked into the southern corner is a separate, ultra-shallow peak known as Banzai, which needs higher tides and a southeast-to-south swell before it breaks.
When It Works
The reef takes swell from southeast to south (SE-S) and comes into its own on a south (S) swell. It is usable from 1.5 m / 5 ft to 4.6 m / 15 ft, so this is a spot for solid swell rather than everyday surf. Consistency is moderate, but when a sizable south swell lands you can expect powerful, hollow walls peeling both left and right.
Wind and Tide
Look for a west (W) offshore wind to groom the faces. It breaks on low and mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is an expert-only wave, and the lineup gets busy when it fires. The atmosphere is localised, so take the time to read the pecking order before paddling out.
