Freshwater - I.O.W surf guide

Freshwater - I.O.W is a surf spot located on the Isle of Wight. It’s known for its rocky terrain and a solid surf scene, attracting surfers who are looking for some decent waves. The beach is close to a car park, making access pretty straightforward, and there are facilities available in the nearby village.

This spot offers a hollow, fast point break that's best when the swell is coming in from the southwest. With optimal conditions, it can handle swell sizes around 3 ft (about 0.9 meters). The waves generally break over an uneven reef, producing both left and right-hand waves, although it's mainly known for its rights. Keep in mind that this spot is more suited for experts due to the rippy conditions and the rocky lineup. Low to mid tide is when the waves work best, and if the wind is from the northeast, you’ll likely catch some good rides.

When heading to Freshwater, it's important to be aware that the surf can vary quite a bit, depending on the swell direction and conditions. The south and west swells can create some decent days, but it’s always a good idea to check the conditions ahead of time. Be prepared for a mix of fun and challenging sessions here!
