Gamboa is a sand-bottomed beachbreak that peels both left and right.
When It Works
It draws swell from northeast through east-southeast to south (NE-ESE-S), with southeast (SE) swell the best match. The break is usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft. Expect moderately consistent surf, though it isn't as reliable as some of the other local beachbreaks.
Wind and Tide
Look for west (W) offshore wind. It can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is a friendly option for beginners, and the lineup usually stays fairly quiet. The south end has some handy gullies that ease the paddle out and hold up lefts and rights, which also suits intermediates and longboarders.
Access
There's a car park with free parking plus roadside parking, and you'll find restrooms, a surf school, and a surf shop nearby.
