Overview
Golden Bay is a sandy beach break on Malta that peels both left and right. It's an approachable, easygoing setup rather than a heavy performance wave.
When It Works
The bay pulls in swell from southwest to northwest, and it comes into its own on a northwest swell. It's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, giving you a decent working window once a swell lines up. Consistency can be hit-or-miss, so it pays to time your sessions with an incoming swell.
Wind and Tide
Look for an east offshore wind to clean up the faces. The beach works through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The mellow, sandy peaks make Golden Bay a friendly option for beginners, and the lineup tends to stay quiet. When there's southwest swell about, nearby Radisson's is worth a look, it usually picks up SW better than Riviera and produces some average lefts and rights, though expect strong currents there.
Access
There are restrooms and a lifeguard on hand. Parking is paid, with a car park and roadside options.
