Ideal wave heights tend to be around 2 feet (0.6 meters), and you can find good waves on mid to high tide. The waves usually break over sand, making it a little more forgiving for surfers of all levels. Expect some sloppy shoulders, but with the right conditions, you can pull off some decent cutbacks. Just keep in mind that the mid tide is where the magic happens.

Access to Green Harbor is free during the winter, which is a bonus if you’re looking to surf without spending any cash. Since the estuary flows out into the surf, you might experience some rippy sections, so stay aware of your surroundings.
