Haswayn is a sand-bottomed beach break that peels both left and right close to the shore. The setup may not look like much at first glance, but the waves break with a nice angle right near the sand, and the village itself is a genuine highlight of coming here.
When It Works
The break picks up swell from a wide window, running southwest through north to northeast (SW-N-NE), with a southwest swell the best match. Because it breaks over sand, the shape shifts with the banks. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, so there is room to surf on both small and more solid days.
Wind and Tide
Look for a northwest offshore wind to clean up the faces. The beach works across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The mellow, close-to-shore beach break makes this a friendly spot for beginners finding their feet.
