Heavy's surf guide

Heavy's is the first surf spot you'll hit on Halmahera. It's known for its long, sucky lefts that can really deliver when the conditions are right. You'll want to keep an eye on those perfect SE winds; they make all the difference here. The waves can get pretty intense, and the spot is often untouched, so you might find yourself sharing the lineup with just a few others.

This spot works best with a North swell, but it can also handle some East swells. It'll break nicely with swell sizes starting from around 2 feet (0.6 meters). As you paddle out, get ready for some fast, unforgiving tubes that break over LiveCoral. The waves push left, and they're definitely not for the faint of heart—only experts should attempt to ride them. The best time to surf here is during low to high tides, especially when the wind is blowing from the Southeast.

Remember, Heavy's is a spot that'll challenge even the most skilled surfers, so make sure you're ready for some serious wave action. It’s not the place for beginners, but if you're up for it, you'll be in for a wild ride!
