Hilton surf guide

Hilton is located in the vanilla yellow city of Cartagena de Indias, known for its more sheltered surf spot in front of the Hilton hotel. While it can get crowded, it provides a decent spot for surfers looking to catch some waves. The area benefits from a set of jetties that help catch bigger swells coming from the west and northwest, making it a popular spot for both beginners and more experienced surfers alike. Castillogrande beach, just a bit deeper in the bay, doesnโ€™t break often, mainly facing south.

The surf here is usually best for rights. The jetties create nice shapes and some pockets of hollowness, especially on bigger swells. You can expect to handle swell sizes starting from about 0.3 meters (1 ft) up to larger conditions. The ideal swell direction is northwest, but it also works with west and northeast swells. For the best surf experience, low to mid tide works well, and a northeast wind is preferred, making the conditions pretty reliable.

Hilton is an excellent spot for beginners looking to get comfortable in the water. With its gentle waves and the safety of the jetties, it offers a friendly environment for those learning the ropes. Just keep in mind that conditions can change, so always check the surf report before heading out.
