Horcones is a long black-sand beachbreak that arcs for around 3 km, with a rivermouth partway along and a pointbreak at its western end known as Dos Rocas. Everything breaks over sand, and the banks throw up both lefts and rights.
When It Works
The beach draws swell from southeast through south to west, with south (S) swell the best match. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, and it is a consistent spot that picks up plenty of what is on offer.
Wind and Tide
Look for a north (N) offshore wind to clean things up. Horcones can work through most of the tide, though a rising tide is generally the better call.
Local Tips
With mellow, forgiving beachbreak peaks, this is a good option for beginners finding their feet. The lineup tends to stay fairly quiet, so there is usually room to spread out and pick off your own waves.

Parking is easy and free, with roadside spots right by the beach.
