Overview
Hornbaek Pier is one of the first breaks on Zealand to be surfed, a sand-bottom left with some shelter from the pier, which also helps break up the current. It's a mellow, approachable wave geared toward soft, forgiving rides.
When It Works
It draws swell from northwest through north, with northwest the best match. The break is usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.2 m / 4 ft, and it can be somewhat inconsistent, so it rewards patience when the swell lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for northwest offshore wind. It works on low and mid tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is a beginner-friendly wave, and you can expect a moderately busy lineup when it's working.

Getting in is easy, and the pier offers a bit of wind protection.
