Horton Beach is a sandy beach break on the south Gower coast, breaking both left and right. Its banks have thinned in recent years, with the sand depletion possibly tied to sand mining in the Bristol Channel that has affected many south Gower beaches.
When It Works
It picks up swell from the south through west, with southwest (SW) the best direction, and is usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft. Bigger swells that wrap in produce a good shorebreak. It can be somewhat inconsistent, so it rewards catching it on the right day.
Wind and Tide
Look for a north (N) offshore wind. It's best at low tide and still works through mid, with a rising tide generally the better call, though it turns dumpy at high.
Local Tips
This is an approachable break for beginners, and the lineup tends to stay fairly quiet even when it's working.

Park in the car park right by the beach, with camping available nearby.
