Overview
Hotel Novotel is a sheltered beach break serving up both lefts and rights over a mix of uneven reef and sand. There's plenty of wind and swell protection here, which makes it a friendly, forgiving spot for beginners and kids. Surfers chasing something with more punch can head over to Gosier island to search for a bit more juice.
When It Works
The break draws swell from southeast to south (SE-S), with southeast (SE) the best match. It's usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.5 m / 5 ft. Consistency is a little hit-or-miss, so it helps to time your session for when the swell lines up.
Wind and Tide
Look for a north (N) offshore wind to clean things up. The spot can work through most of the tide, across low, mid, and high, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is a welcoming break for beginners still finding their feet. Expect a moderately busy lineup when it's working, and be ready to share the water with all kinds of floating objects.
