Hungry surf guide

Hungry is a surf spot that surfers often hit up for its consistent waves and decent quality. It mainly features a reef break that can offer some long rides, making it an attractive place to surf. The location is known to get crowded, mainly due to the locals who often stick around, so be prepared for some company in the water. The paddle out can be a bit of a trek from the north end of the tetrapods, so make sure you're ready for that.

The waves here are generally pretty good, especially when the swell comes from the NorthEast, which is the optimal direction. Hungry can handle swell sizes around 3ft (about 1 meter). While it primarily sets up as a left, it can also produce rights when conditions are right, particularly on bigger days. The best time to hit it is during low to mid tide, and if the wind is coming from the West, that's usually ideal for good surf.

This spot is recommended for expert surfers, as the reefs can be uneven and tricky to navigate. Knowing when to go and what conditions to look for can make a big difference. If youโ€™re heading out to Hungry, keep an eye on the swell forecast and prepare for a fun session.
