Overview
Hustadvika is a cluster of hard-to-find reef breaks near Molde, throwing both lefts and rights over a rock ledge. The waves are mostly short but hollow and punchy, helped along by a deep offshore trench, and there's also an inconsistent, mellow beachbreak in the mix.
When It Works
These spots come alive on northwest swells. The reef draws swell from southwest through northwest (SW-NW), with northwest the best match, and it's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft. Consistency is only medium, so it won't be firing every time you check.
Wind and Tide
Look for southeast offshore wind. The reef works across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is expert-level surf. With defined take-off spots and short rides, even a handful of surfers makes a crowd, so expect the locals to be a little protective of it.
