Overview
Jacaraipe is a beach break spread along the extensive sands of the Serra coastline. Waves break over sand and peel both left and right, mostly easy rollers that suit beginners, with the occasional hollow day when there is more punch in the surf.
When It Works
The long stretch of beach picks up just about every swell that reaches this coast. It draws swell from northeast through east-southeast to south (NE-ESE-S), with an east (E) swell the best match. The break is usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, and it stays consistent, so there is usually something to ride.
Wind and Tide
Look for west (W) offshore wind to clean things up. Jacaraipe works through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is an approachable spot for beginners, and you can expect a moderately busy lineup when it is working. Water quality can be suspect near the rivermouth jetty, so it is worth heading up towards Laranjeiras and Solemar.
Access
There is a car park with free parking, along with paid and roadside options. On-beach facilities include restrooms, showers, camping, a lifeguard, a surf school, and a surf shop.
