Jaya Ji is a left-hand point on Liberia's exposed coast, a recent discovery about two hours' hike south of Robertsport. The name means mangrove waters and refers to the beach lagoon here. Swells bounce off a rocky headland to form a bowling, ripable wall that repeatedly doubles up as it rifles down the point, throwing square tubes off the take-off before opening into air sections toward the finish.
When It Works
Peeling left over boulders and sand, this point draws swell from south through west, with south swell the best match. It's usable from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 3.7 m / 12 ft and breaks consistently.
Wind and Tide
Look for northeast offshore wind. The point works across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers, and the lineup stays quiet. Keep in mind there's more current along this exposed stretch of coast.
