The surf at Jenkinson's can handle swells from 4ft (1.2m) to a good 12ft (3.7m) and usually breaks over sand. Waves can come in both right and left, making it a versatile spot for different kinds of surfers. The ideal conditions happen with swells from the ESE, ENE, E, and even as far out as NE. Best bets for a good session are mid to high tides, but it can work on any tide depending on the swell. For paddling, it’s typically a short haul, which is nice, but just watch out for the packed crowds – it gets pretty busy when the waves are good.

Access to Jenkinson's is via pay parking, with some limited street parking options. Given its popularity, especially in the summer with tourists, parking can get tricky. A heads-up: the jetty can be a hazard close by, along with the thick crowd when everything’s firing. This spot generally shines from September through March, attracting mainly expert surfers looking to ride solid waves.
