Overview
Kanezaki is the premier beachbreak in Fukuoka prefecture, breaking over sand with tubing lefts and rights at each end of the beach. It usually runs bigger than the other nearby breaks, so it is a reliable place to find size when the surrounding coast stays small.
When It Works
The sandbars pick up swell from west through north to northeast, with a northwest (NW) swell the best match. Kanezaki is usable from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, and it stays moderately consistent, with waves rolling in more or less constantly through winter.
Wind and Tide
Look for a south (S) offshore wind to clean up the peaks. The beach can work through most of the tide, but a rising tide is generally the better call.
Local Tips
The waves suit intermediate surfers, and the lineup gets busy when it turns on, so expect company on the better days.
